The University of Sindh invites applications for the award of MPhil and Ph.D. scholarships from the candidates having domicile of Sindh province (domicile of Thatta / Sujawal will be given preference). These scholarships are part of two marine research projects awarded by the Petroleum Marine Development Committee (PMDC) Thatta and PMDC Sujawal to the University of Sindh under the projects given below. (a) “Establishment of Oceanographic Survey Unit: Climate Change. Freshwater Scarcity and Pollution Impact Assessment on Geomorphology, Mangrove, Fisheries and Wildlife Occurring in Coastal and Marine Waters of District Thatta” (b) “Establishment of Marine Research Laboratory and Survey Unit: Population Dynamics, Pollution Impact Assessments, and Way-Forward of Coastal and Marine Biodiversity in Creeks of Sujawal Sindh Pakistan”

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 1. BS IV-year / M.Sc. second class (45%) in Biology / Biotechnology / Botany / Chemistry/ Environmental Science / Freshwater Biology and Fisheries / Marine Biology / Microbiology / Geology / Geography / Zoology / Physics for doing M.Phil. Must be registered/enrolled in M.Phil or Ph.D. in disciplines of Biology / Biotechnology/ Botany / Chemistry / Environmental Science! Freshwater Biology and Fisheries / Marine Biology / Marine Science / Microbiology / Geology / Geography / Zoology for doing M.Phil / Ph.D. in HEC recognized Universities. The candidate for M.Phil. / Ph.D. will conduct research in marine biology of coastal areas of Thatta and Sujawal districts only. The candidate for M.Phil. / Ph.D. will work under the supervision / co-supervision of qualified faculty of PMDC Thatta and PMDC Sujawal on research areas of coastal and marine fisheries. resource conservation and development of marine culture, marine mammals, coral diversity and related fauna, and flora marine turtles, conservations of Pakistan’s cetacean biodiversity, conservation of mangroves, and characterization of sediments in different habitats.
