Barrick Gold Corporation is recruiting a world-class team for the development of a world-class mining project — the Reko Diq copper and gold deposit in Balochistan.
Reko Diq is owned jointly by Barrick (50%), the Balochistan provincial government (25%), and Pakistan, state-owned enterprises (25%) and will be operated by Barrick, a global mining business with operations in 18 countries on four continents. Barrick’s business philosophy is one of partnership with its host countries and communities and it believes in sharing the economic benefits it creates fairly with these stakeholders. It also has a policy of recruiting, training, and promoting host country nationals, investing in the social development of the communities around its mines, and promoting the growth of local economies. It has a long record of creating sustainable prosperity wherever it operates. Barrick will soon embark on a definitive feasibility study on the project, following which construction will start, with the first production scheduled for 2027/2028. During peak construction, Reko Diq will employ some 7 500 people and once in production, the mine will create 4 000 long-term jobs. Reko Dig is expected to have a life of at least 40 years.
