Geographical Indications (Registration and Protection) Act, 2020 has recently been enacted. The enactment of geographical indication will provide legal protection to our Local products in foreign markets, It will encourage SMEs to expand their business worldwide. The protection of geographical indications will boost exports, The GI protectors will be helpful in the economic prosperity of the producers. processors and traders. Positions Vacant:
1. Expert / Consultant
Qualification / Experience required for the job: Minimum 7 years’ experience n the IP/GI field. assessment studies/consultant services/baseline studies/coordination with national and international organizations will be given preference, Minimum qualification Master’s degree el Law the HEC recognized University, Age Limit Not more than 55 years.
Responsibilities: Drafting rules under the Geographical Indications Act. 7020. Devising SOPs for Certifying Bodies; Coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and provincial governments for identification of registrant bodies; Coordinating preparation of books of specifications for enlisted GIs, Conducting Awareness / Training sessions; Capacity butting of IPO staff designated for GI Registry.
